Justice Palavra serves as the inaugural Associate Director of Florida MESA, where she spearheads initiatives to empower underrepresented students in STEM across the state.

Justice’s path to leadership in STEM education began at the University of South Florida, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and later pursued a Master’s degree in STEM Education. Her dedication to advancing equitable education practices is underscored by her current doctoral studies, focusing on social justice in science education, with aspirations to contribute her expertise in future roles at an HBCU.

Justice’s journey was shaped by her involvement in student campus organizations and leadership roles that centered on diversity and inclusion. As President of the Multicultural Activities Council and active member of the Black Student Association, she facilitated initiatives that promoted dialogue and understanding on issues affecting students of color both on and off campus.

Throughout her career, Justice has been recognized for her advocacy and impact. Her work as a middle and high school science teacher and district-level staff developer equipped her with firsthand insights into the challenges faced by students of color in STEM. These experiences fueled her passion for creating inclusive learning environments and advocating for equitable access to STEM education.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Justice finds joy in creative pursuits such as reading, dancing, baking, and listening to music. She shares these passions with her spouse and enjoys spending quality time with their German Shepherd, Milo. Her personal interests reflect her vibrant personality and dedication to a balanced life outside of work and academia.

Justice Palavra exemplifies resilience and determination in her quest to empower students through STEM education. Her journey from a first-generation college student to an influential advocate for diversity underscores her commitment to fostering a more inclusive and equitable future in STEM. Through her leadership at Florida MESA and her ongoing academic pursuits, Justice continues to inspire and uplift the next generation of STEM leaders, making a lasting impact on communities across Florida.
