Highlights from the National Engineering Design Competition (NEDC)
This summer, the brightest Middle and High School minds from across the nation gathered in San Diego for the National Engineering Design Competition (NEDC). The competition’s theme, “Designing for Equity Locally to Affect Sustainability Globally,” challenged students to use engineering to solve local inequities in their communities.

Middle School
First Place: Westwood Middle School, Washington
Design: Wildfire alert system for low-income and rural populations
